The State Center Approach is Working

Data from the US Department of Labor recently compiled by the Pennsylvania Center for Employee Ownership (PACEO) shows that the state center approach to fostering growth in employee ownership across the United States is working very well. The data shows that as of 2017, the states with employee ownership centers have shown significantly more success in creating Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs) than states without a state center. While certainly not the only factor in the creation of new ESOPs, the data supports EOX’s conviction that having “boots on the ground” who provide resources, education, and outreach to business owners, advisors, and community leaders can lead to the increase in the number of businesses that that transition to an employee ownership model.
